Takeoff in Berlin TempelhofThis is a takeoff in Berlin Tempelhof (THF, EDDI) which is closed today. I am on the left seat. On the right seat is my Flight Instructor. I was still a student pilot and Berlin was about to close this famous airport, so I asked my Flight Instructor if we could fly to EDDI. We did and this is the actual takeoff in light rain. The airport was closed one month later - forever.

Canadair 415 in ActionWe spent the summer 2012 in Poreč in Croatia. There was a large fire in the forest about 10km away from Poreč. Croatia has six Canadiar 415 for firefighting and five of them were active on that day. It was an impressive view from the beach so I filmed one of the Candairs that was taking of from the water after it took 5 tons of water.

Casio FX-991ES vs. HP 48GRecently my daughter did her homework and came to me to help her. One part of the task was to calculate the area of x^4 + x^3 - 2*x^2 in the interval of 0 and 1. The indefinive integration is x^5/5 + x^4/4 - 2*x^3/3(see here). Wolfram Alpha claims that the numerical result is -13/60which approximates to -2.16667. Her Casio FX-991ES calculator gives a totally different result of -1.xxx like that. Now I was unsure whom to blame. I cannot imagine that my Wolfram Alpha (Mathematica) calculates wrong. Then I opened my drawer and took out my good old HP 48G which I used a long time ...

Secret CroatiaCroatia is full of secrets. Early military installations were constructed in the K&K time, especially around Pula. Some parts were italian and so Bunker lines were built. Some installations were created by germans and the Ustasha regime. After WWII the JNA did tremendous installations, especially due to the cold war. Some of those were also used in the war from 1991 to 1995. I created a map that points to some of those, which I will be updating from time to time.

The main title was called "Human Race", but often referred as Goldrunner due to the game title. The music was composed by Ron Hubbard who made a lot of good computer game songs. This is how Goldrunner looks and sounds like:The web site www.amigaremix.com is a good source of songs based or inspired by some of those computer game ...
